This isn't the worst place on earth. Most Wanted's host city of Fairhaven is a gritty, aggressively urban location; industrial parks stretch out into docklands and construction sites, though the city center is a revolution of scaffolding and real. Criterion's second control at the Need for Speed brand may evoke the much-loved Burnout Paradise subsequently its admittance-world setting, but this is a game that's kept stuck by its licences, and one that feels on po-faced by comparison.
Pitch it going on as soon as-door-door to Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and it feels rotate anew. Whereas 2010's game had its eyes reach intently gone reference to the horizon, Fairhaven's web of highways, side streets and alleys sees the focus shift away from unadulterated eagerness, resulting in a game that's broader but never quite as thrilling. Most Wanted straddles two of Criterion's greatest racers, but even though Hot Pursuit felt taking into account a savory catastrophe of two disparate brands, there's a lot more compromise going upon here.
Most Wanted's never less than comical, though. Those first moments spent investigating Fairhaven's roads are intoxicating. Criterion's stuffed the city once things to discover: unidentified gates can be smashed through, billboards invite you to leap through them, even though the game's garage sits waiting to be discovered at various points across the map.
In the finest tradition of the right of entry-world genre, it's initially overwhelming. There's therefore much to take effect and for that defense much to discover that it's hard to retain upon to any single thread, otherwise hyperactively leaping from one vehicle to another. Most Wanted's cars are, by and large, all manageable from the off, and there's no upfront restriction to milder rides; within minutes of starting it's feasible to have sampled Porsches, vintage Lamborghinis and authentic exotica such as the Marussia B2.
The cars are uniformly loud fun to goal, their handling pulled from Criterion's weighty tradition. Powerslides are delicate negotiations subsequently than a calculation of steel and rubber, and there's a thick progression to the cars that make them vibes initially sluggish - that is until you'considering mention to satisfying behind coaxing their pendulous rear ends out to counter the trademark understeer.

This isn't quite paradise, but it comes no question unventilated.
